Moncton: Assomption Boulevard, Pedestrian Crosswalk at Downing St

Gateway to the Riverfront Park and the Petitcodiac River?

This area may see major changes by 2015. The City of Moncton is considering connecting (reconnecting?) Downing Street to Assomption Blvd in order to allow easier access to the Riverfront Park and the Petitcodiac River. A redevelopment of Downing Street could prove interesting to both locals and visitors. This project is worth following.

This image was captured in September of 2007 but little has changed since: some signage is different and the Moncton Law Courts building is now just down the street from this location. For the history buffs, Assomption Blvd used to be named Commercial Street; also, 2015 represents Moncton's 125th anniversary of incorporation as a city.
